How tuition and aid work

The school gives its figures in person, so you never read an old one.

  • Tuition is set by the year and by the class a child joins: early childhood mornings, or the full day in the lower grades and the upper grades. After care is billed apart, by the month, for the days a family uses. The school's figures are on the admissions page and are given at every visit.

  • Registration

A family pays an application fee when it applies, which covers reading the application and the visit with the child. After an offer there is an enrollment fee that holds the place. Both are listed, with their purpose, in the program matrix.

    • Application: when a family applies

    • Enrollment: when an offer is accepted

  • Holding a place

A place is held when the family signs the enrollment agreement and makes the first payment, which goes toward tuition. Families have until early April to answer an offer. If a class is full, the office keeps a waitlist and calls families in the order they joined.

    • Waitlist by order of joining

  • Billing

Families pay by the year, by the term or by the month. Monthly payments run by autopay, set up with the office, which will go over the schedule with you at enrollment.

  • Financial aid is available; here is how to apply. After you submit an application, the office sends an aid form. A small committee reads each form and answers in the same week as admissions decisions. Ask the office about state programs for families who may qualify.

    • An aid form follows the application

  • Siblings

A second child, or a third, is handled differently, and the office will explain how when you apply. Brothers and sisters are read in the same season, so a family hears about everyone at once.

  • Withdrawing

We ask for written notice before the end of a term. The enrollment agreement explains how a term in progress is handled, and the office will go over it with you before you sign.

  • Other costs

Some costs sit outside tuition: art and handwork materials, class trips, festivals and after care. The program matrix lists each one and what it is for.

    • Materials: paper, paints, wool and wood

    • Trips: billed with the permission slip
